Football round-up: Windsor 'ready and raring to go' for Fairford Town test

Windsor FC boss Mark Cooper insists his side are ‘ready and raring to go’ for this Saturday’s clash with Fairford Town as they look to continue their push up the Hellenic Premier Division table.

The Royalists sit in 11th place but are in the hunt for a top half finish alongside the likes of Burnham and Flackwell Heath.

They were due to host Longlevens on Saturday but adverse weather conditions meant the tie was postponed.

“We want to finish as strongly as possible,” said Cooper.

“There’s no silverware left to play for but that doesn’t stop us wanting to finish as high up the table as possible.

“I’m happy with everything apart from not playing games. We’re training great, we’re all fit and we’re raring to go.

“On Saturday, we go away to Fairford who are third in the league and are a very good side.

“We’re really looking forward to going there and competing with them.

“We will continue to train hard to make sure we can do everything we can to come away with a result.”

Burnham return to league action this weekend hoping to end a hoodoo of three consecutive defeats.

An encouraging 3-0 win over Milton United in the Floodlit Cup has given Paul Shone some brief joy. But the Blues boss will be expecting his side can come up with the goods in the league when they travel to fourth placed Shrivenham on Saturday.

Flackwell Heath will hope they’re not too rusty when they face league leaders Westfields at Allpay Park.

Marcus Richardson’s side haven’t played a league match in two weeks after suffering from back-to-back postponements.

The Heathens had previously gone on an encouraging three game unbeaten streak in the Hellenic Premier Division. They travel to the Fields on Saturday.
