Coley wants Magpies to make York Road a fortress after inspired Daggers victory

Josh Coley wants Maidenhead United to turn York Road into a fortress after getting their first home win of the season against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Magpies winger was on hand for both goals, teeing Nathan Blissett up nicely to level the score after the interval before curling in his own effort 15 minutes from time.

It was the third consecutive victory for Maidenhead in the National League after falling to defeats in their first three opening matches so far this campaign.

“It’s our first win at home but we plan on earning many more,” said Coley.

“We were on a bit of a downer from losing in the FA Cup on Saturday but we wanted to make amends today. We came out and did the right thing. We came into this game from two wins in the league and we wanted to make a third. The gaffer set us up right, we played how we played and obviously got the win.”

Coley, who joined the Magpies earlier this summer from Stotfold, has enjoyed his start to life at York Road. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net twice in six appearances and is optimistic of a fruitful debut season.

“Settling into a new club is always hard but when you find the right people and the right group of boys, it makes the football easy,” he added. “It builds character and it builds chemistry. It makes you feel more comfortable [on the pitch] aswell.”
