Dougie MacLean: Blast of the Mohicans music

The Nettlebed’s 43rd anniversary show could potentially be its biggest ever.

Acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean, who played to a crowd of more than 2,000 in January at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, is coming to town.

The talented multi-instrumental musician won a Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting at the BBC Radio 2 Folk awards in 2013, and in 2014 he performed at the closing ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Dougie’s most famous work, Caledonia, is the main theme of the film The Last of the Mohicans.

Big names coming up at Nettlebed include Eliza Carthy and David Delarre taking time out from The Wayward Band to perform on July 16.

Pete Lincoln, Hugh Crabtree and Alan Whetton on July 23 before a the venue pauses its gigs over August.

Looking ahead to September, Fara starts the new season on September 3.
