Two men have been arrested for flying drones in Windsor as police enforce ‘a strict airspace restriction’ ahead of US President Donald Trump’s state visit.
A 37-year-old man from Brentford was arrested in Windsor Great Park today (September 16) and another 37-year-old man from Aylesbury were detained by officers breaking no-fly rules.
Thames Valley Police warned the public its officers ‘will not hesitate to take enforcement action’ if further problem drone flights were spotted. The two men remain in custody.
Airspace restrictions around Windsor will remain in place until September 18, the force said.
Inspector Matthew Wilkinson, of the Joint Operations Unit, said: “In line with standard protocol for events of this magnitude, a strict airspace restriction is now in effect.
“This measure is essential to ensure the safety of both the local community and all attendees of the state visit.
“We expect full cooperation from the public and will not hesitate to take enforcement action where necessary.
“We appreciate your understanding and compliance during this significant state occasion.”
