Former Britain’s Got Talent finalist joins Farnham Common centenarian for milestone celebration

A Farnham Common centenarian celebrated his milestone birthday with a special performance by a former Britain’s Got Talent finalist.

Geoff Bedborough who lives at the Signature care home received an ‘outpouring of love’ while surrounded by family and friends at his 100th birthday and enjoyed a fruit cake, as requested by Geoff for his special day.

Geoff's love for jazz and swing music inspired the activities supervisor, Adele Feaver, to orchestrate a surprise performance by Andrew Bourn, a finalist from the 2014 season of Britain's Got Talent.

Andrew said: "I had the pleasure of celebrating Geoff's 100th Birthday. A lovely man with a rich history. It puts so much into perspective. I sang for him and his huge family, and it made me feel so lucky to have what I have in my life. A beautiful family and spreading the joy of music."

Andrew's 'captivating' performance had the entire home swinging to the rhythm, with Geoff joining in the festivities, singing and dancing with his family.

Geoff's daughter, Diane Buckingham said: "It has been an amazing day. Thank you to everyone at Signature at Farnham Common for helping make Dad's day extra special. Special thank you to Adele; Andrew was fantastic, and I know the family will be talking about this day for years to come."

The festivities took place in the care home’s community pub, decked out with vibrant balloons and festive banners.

Family and friends gathered to toast Geoff's journey and share heart-warming anecdotes from his life.

Marian Alexandru, Signature at Farnham Common general manager added: “It's a privilege to be part of a community that honours its residents with genuine warmth and care. Geoff's special day exemplifies the essence of Signature's commitment to creating unforgettable moments and fostering meaningful connections. Here's to many more milestones and memories ahead!”
