Holocaust Memorial Day will be marked at Norden Farm with the screening of two films this weekend.
On Saturday, the world will stop to remember the sHolocaust Memorial Day is at Norden Farm on Sunday, January 28ix million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the millions of people who suffered persecution by the Nazis.
The date marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest concentration camp built under Adolf Hitler’s regime.
The following day Norden Farm is showing The Lady in Number 6, a documentary which tells the story of Holocaust survivor Alice Herz-Sommer.
In the documentary, Alice, a celebrated Jewish concert pianist, discusses the importance of music, laughter and having an optimistic outlook on life.
Life is Beautiful, a film first released in 1997, will also be shown.
It tells the story of Jewish-Italian writer Guido Orefice who is forced onto a train and taken to a concentration camp following the outbreak of the Second World War.
Determined to shelter his son from the horrors of the concentration camp, Guido convinces him that their internment is merely a game and that the winner gets a tank.
The film won three Academy Awards.
