The overspend on the Stafferton Way link road was discussed at full council as members approved a budget increase by £680k.
The road, which opened in December, was £1.25 million over budget. The meeting was given a brief summary of a report due to be discussed at the cabinet tonight (Thursday).
Councillors gave a green light to the extra £680k capital budget for the 2015-2016 Operations and Customers Services capital programme, subject to it being approved by the cabinet.
Cllr Simon Dudley, cabinet member for finance, said: “We’ve given Maidenhead the road it deserves.”
But Cllr Malcolm Beer (Ind, Old Windsor) was ‘alarmed’ by the figures and said the project manager should have had a better plan in place.
Cllr Lynne Jones (Ind, Old Windsor) asked about clarification on the figures and the effect this would have on future capital spending. See our website tomorrow for a report of the cabinet meeting.
