Muse and Homes England have launched a new round of community consultation on plans to transform the former Thames Valley University site.

The proposals for the North West Quadrant in Slough aim to create a neighbourhood with a ‘distinct, recognisable new identity' and up to 1,500 new homes.

Residents, businesses, and stakeholders are invited to shape the emerging plans before next year’s planning submission by attending a drop-in event in mid-October.

The nine-acre former Thames Valley University site has been vacant since 2023.

The site is a key pillar of Slough’s 2040 vision to create a new community and destination while respecting the town’s history, culture, and heritage.

Key ambitions of the proposals include ‘sustainable, future-proofed buildings’, nearly 1,500 new homes for sale and rent, new green spaces and public areas and flexible commercial and retail spaces to complement Slough town centre.

Muse, acting as development partner to Homes England, launched its consultation at the Community Festival at Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy on Stoke Road on Saturday (September 25).

They spoke with over 100 people and have already received responses to their survey.

Muse development director Chris Scott said: “It was a pleasure to meet so many people in Slough on Saturday and speak to them about their aspirations for the town and our emerging proposals for North West Quadrant.

“We’d like to thank all the people who have already taken the time to give their feedback on the scheme.

“North West Quadrant is a landmark opportunity for Slough, and we are fully committed to delivering a neighbourhood that reflects the town’s heritage and ambition.

“We encourage local people to tell us what you think about our plans so far so we can make sure this project meets your needs and aspirations.”

Muse and Homes England are inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders to a public drop-in event to meet the project team, ask questions, and share their views on the emerging proposals.

This will take place at the Moxy Hotel on William Street on Thursday, October 16 between 4pm and 8pm.

Community conversations were held on the project in 2020 and in early 2025, and are considered ‘key’ to ensuring the final proposals are the best they can be.

This feedback has been incorporated into the plans, and Muse and Homes England are committed to an open, ongoing dialogue where every contribution is valued.

The community can stay up to date with the latest plans and provide their feedback through the dedicated consultation website: northwestquadrant.commonplace.is.

Since the website launch last Friday, it has attracted over 350 visitors.

All respondents who fill in the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Love2Shop voucher.
