In the public notices this week, there are several applications for changes at historic sites, and several road closures.

Road closures

The Royal Borough is looking to close the road in Alleyns Lane (part), Cookham Dean.

The closure would affect Alleyns Lane from the southern boundary of Dean Farm House to the northern boundary of Satis.

The road is set to be closed from 8am to 6pm on Thursday, January 8, to allow access to underground inspection chambers and to clear out built-up silt from fibre-optic ducts.

A signed diversion route will be put in place via Dean Lane, Bradcutts Lane and Alleyns Lane.

For more information, contact CityFibre on 0800 083 6160.

The Royal Borough is also looking to close the road in Oakley Green Road, Oakley Green.

The closure would affect B3024 Oakley Green Road from the western boundary of Woodlands westward to the access road for Longfields Farm House.

The road would be closed from Monday, January 5, for roadworks to allow carriageway resurfacing works. Access will be maintained for local residents and businesses.

An alternative route will be provided with diversions clearly marked at the time of closure.

Finally, RBWM is looking to close part of the road in Juniper Drive, Maidenhead.

The closure would affect Juniper Drive from number 2 to number 4, and from number 16 to number 14.

The road would be closed from Tuesday, January 6 to Wednesday, January 7, between 9am and 3pm each day. The closure is so a company can install underground ducts for fibre-optic cables.

The restriction would apply only when traffic signs are in place. There is no alternative route available.

For more information, contact Circet, working on behalf of Openreach, on 03301 336 141.

In all cases, although work is expected to be finished sooner, the closure could last up to 18 months. Any longer and special permission has to be given by the Secretary of State for Transport.

Planning

Consent is being sought for repair and maintenance work to Bisham Abbey. This includes removing past cement-based repairs and fixing areas of stone, brickwork and flint where needed. (ref 25/03209).

Meanwhile, consent is also being sought for new surface water and foul drainage arrangements at Ockwells Manor which is undergoing a range of repairs and refurbishments (ref 25/03135).

An application is also in for permission to put a temporary static caravan in The Chequers, Dean Lane, in Cookham for 18 months (ref 25/03144).

This is for the self-builders while refurbishing The Chequers, a Grade II listed former public house of historic interest.

As such, this is counted as a development ‘affecting the character or appearance of a conservation area and the setting of a listed building.’

The caravan will be onsite temporarily ‘hence will cause no impact on heritage,’ claims the applicant.

Nonetheless, there must be some concerns about it, as this application has been called in by Cookham ward councillor Cllr Mark Howard, meaning it will be discussed at panel rather than decided by officers.
