Parking permits are set to be introduced across a number of areas in Slough following a decision made by the borough council.

The new restrictions across the town mean an annual permit fee comes into force, currently set at £75 for one resident and £125 for a second.

The council had previously introduced a Controlled Parking Zone to locations in the Chalvey area, and held consultations with residents between February and March this year.

A decision has now been made to proceed with the plans.

The affected roads in Chalvey are: Alexandra Road, Brammas Close, Chalvey Road West, Church Street, Clive Court, Greenwatt Way, High Street Chalvey, Ladbrooke Road, The Green, Turton Way and White Hart Road.

Chalvey ward councillor, Zafar Satti (Cons), discussed the permits, advising concern over enforcement of the measures and that the ward faced more pressing issues.

He said: “I’ll go with the residents, if they’re happy or they have issues I’ll go with them because this will be another burden for them, paying more money for parking permits.

“We do have problems with illegally parked cars but I’m also really concerned about the enforcement, I think that’s going to be difficult.”

Councillor Satti said he had been told by a borough official there was a lack of enforcement agents to implement the measures.

He added: “People in Chalvey are less concerned about parking, there’s other more important issues.

“Antisocial behaviour is a big issue and many other things like rubbish everywhere.”

Two additional roads near to the Bath Road, Salt Hill Way and White Close, as well as the town centre, are also set to see parking permits imposed.

A spokesperson for Slough Borough council said: “The process of notifying residents or business will be sent out once the order is advertised and any representations made directly will be responded to next week.

“Then a letter will be also sent to all residents affected on the go live date and how to purchase permits.”
