Organisers of this year’s Run Wexham in Slough are appealing for runners to sign up to the sponsored race.
This year’s event, which starts and ends at Wexham Park Hospital, is taking place on Sunday, July 17.
Money raised from the 10km trail race and 2.8km fun run will be used to equip a five-bed children’s critical care unit at the hospital in Wexham Street with family accommodation.
There will be awards for the winners, a medal for every finisher and a prize for the best children’s fancy dress.
Janet King, director of HR and corporate services at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Wexham Park, said: “The children’s ward at Wexham admits an average of 10 children each week with life-threatening conditions.
“These can range from breathing difficulties to cancer and critical injuries.
“By signing up to Run Wexham and collecting sponsorship, you will be helping to provide state-of-the-art equipment to support these very ill children, many with complex problems, who need to stay in the hospital.”
