A chic new Thameside brasserie is set to open at Taplow Riverside on the site of the former Skindles Hotel, with reservations being confirmed as from November 6. 

Our website and online reservations system will go live from October 8.

Roux at Skindles is French inspired though a very different venture for Alain and father, Michel Roux, from The Waterside Inn, their famous three-star restaurant in Bray. 

You can even sail between the two by riverboat and arrive in style! Relax and take in the best views along the river.

Open six days a week, Roux at Skindles is the place to enjoy a relaxed bite at a reasonable price. A friendly local meeting place where everyone is welcome.

You can sample an all-day menu across the ground floor brasserie opening onto riverside terrace and in our first floor cocktail bar complete with balcony.

A private dining room that seats 14 on the second floor completes this special venue.

Whether just popping in for a coffee and croissant, to share drinks or a casual bite with friends and colleagues in our cocktail bar, linger over a meal or to host a wedding, party or business meeting, Roux at Skindles is the perfect venue. 

Working with local and seasonal ingredients, head chef Raj Holuss offers a classic modern French brasserie menu ranging from breakfast through to lunch, with roasts on Sunday, dinner and sharing plates at the bar, sandwiches plus afternoon tea with champagne.

Breakfasts include healthy, full English and vegetarian options. Menu options include fish soup Bouillabaisse style, Normandy onion soup, scallop à la Parisienne, coq au vin, gnocchi and pasta of the day, to name a few.  Not forgetting delicious desserts including warm chocolate fondant and choux buns with Chantilly cream and chocolate sauce.

Alain Roux believes that this casual, fresh style of cooking is missing in the area and combined with great service will offer something exciting and new.

Recruiting now, the restaurant teams of staff will be led by general manager, French-born Maxime Walkowiak, who worked as head sommelier at The Waterside Inn for more than eight years.  Head chef Raj Holuss is from Mauritius with a background in French cooking who has worked with Alain at The Waterside Inn for over ten years.

Roux at Skindles may be the culmination of five decades of food and hospitality legend that defines the Roux family.  Yet it is not an entirely new venture for them.  In some ways, it is a reincarnation of the notorious, much loved Skindles Hotel that blazed a trail of glamour and intrigue throughout the past century.  But also, of the Roux brasserie.  For Michel Roux opened the first ever brasserie in London in the early 1970s, Brasserie Benoit’s, shortly after his arrival in UK from France.
