Pangbourne Rotary Club

TWENTY-THREE representatives from 17 charities attended Pangbourne Rotary Club’s inaugural “Working with charities” evening.

Most had been supported by the club previously.

Club president Brian Davies explained that through four major fundraising events, the club had donated more than £100,000 to many charities, large and very small, over the past three years.

In order to continue this activity and given the age profile of its members, the club needs:

1. More members — despite being a growing club, we still need more new blood.

2. More collaboration with our charities to help us with resourcing our events and aid the recruitment of new members, which is of mutual benefit to the charities and Rotary.

After brief presentations from each charity, our guests and more than 20 members took the opportunity to learn about each other.

Brian noted the similarity of many of the challenges the charities face and said that member Ted Millichap would set up a Pangbourne Rotary Club charities hub to improve communication and collaboration.
