Windsor Castle has now opened its Christmas season - offering visitors a festive display set against some of the most historic rooms in the royal residence.

THOUSANDS of well-wishers clutching flags and flowers lined the streets of the town to catch a glimpse of the Queen. At precisely noon Her Majesty appeared, driven through Windsor Castle’s Henry VIII Gate.
Prince Charles paid tribute to his 'mummy' when he joined the Queen for the lighting of her 90th birthday beacon in Windsor.
The Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, arrived at the beacon site near Windsor Castle's Cambridge Gate on the Long Walk shortly before 7pm.

Gunmetal markers to line The Queen’s Walkway have been completed in Windsor.
The project by The Outdoor Trust marks a walking route around the town to celebrate the Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch in Britain on Wednesday.
Special guests from the land down under walked the route of the Queen’s Walkway in Windsor on Wednesday.
The Mayor and Mayoress of The Gold Coast in Queensland, Cllr Tom Tate and his wife Ruth, were joined by the city’s CEO Dale Dickson on a visit to see the attraction which is being created by the Outdoor Trust.
