Firefighters stress importance of smoke alarms after Britwell tumble dryer fire

Firefighters have stressed the importance of smoke alarms after the detectors helped alert to a tumble dryer fire at a home in Britwell today (Monday).

Two crews from Slough Fire Station and one from Maidenhead were at a home in Odencroft Road at around 12.30am where a tumble dryer had caught fire.

A spokesperson at Slough Fire Station said two breathing apparatus' were used and the fire was extinguished.

The three occupants had been alerted to the fire by the smoke alarm and had left the property and there were no injuries.

The spokesperson raised the importance of smoke alarms in alerting to fires and asked residents to contact the fire service if they have any queries about installing smoke alarms or would like any fire safety advice.

Firefighters were at the scheme for around an hour.
