Thames Valley Police officers have enacted a Section 60 order ‘to prevent potential violence’ following reports of disorder in Slough.
Following these incidents, officers authorised the Section 60 at 11.50pm on Thursday, February 26 in Lismore Park.
The order, which will give officers extra powers to carry out stop and search checks, will be in place until 11.50pm today (Friday).
The order will cover the areas within Granville Avenue to Muddy Lane, Stoke Road, Montague Road, Farm Lane, Oatland Drive and Mildenhall Road, including Stoke Poges Lane.
Inspector Gemma Mulcaster said: “We have put this Section 60 order in place in a specific area of Slough to prevent potential violence.
“The order will give our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activity and has been enacted for the safety of the public.
“These are emergency powers and the threshold to implement them is very high, however, we are using them to keep our communities safe.
“You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place, and we expect to carry out more stop and searches than usual.
“If you are stopped by an officer, please do not be worried, as this does not mean that you are in trouble.
“I understand that this may be concerning, but we believe all persons involved in the reported disorder are known to each other.
“If you are in the area and have any concerns, you can speak to any of our officers who will be on patrol throughout this evening and tomorrow.
“If you have any information about disorder in these areas, please call us on 101, quoting reference number 43260097558.
“You can also make a report online or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
