Marlow 2, Binfield 2

The performance may have been a little disjointed, but Marlow's character couldn't be faulted as the Blues twice came from behind to snatch a share of the points with local rivals Binfield on Monday afternoon.

The Blues came into the game having moved level on points with second placed Walton & Hersham after beating Sutton Common Rovers 3-1 away from home last Wednesday.

But Mark Bartley's side had their work cut out against a Binfield side who, with games in hand on most of the sides above them, are still very much in the promotion race themselves.

The Moles had lost just one of their last five league games coming into this clash at Oak Tree Road, and they showed that resilience when they took the lead through Taylor Morgan's 17th minute strike. However, the visitors switched off in the final seconds of the half when Nawaf Naheer-Omar drew the Blues level.

The second half took a similar patten with the Moles scoring first only for the Blues to draw themselves level in the game's dying embers. Brandon Curtis fired Binfield back in front with only 11 minutes to play, but Bartley's side once again showed great character to come away from a game they weren't perfect in with a share of the spoils. There was barely any time left on the clock when Aaron McLeish-White netted a 90th minute leveller to keep Marlow on the coattails of Walton & Hersham and leaders Northwood. It was the striker's sixth goal in his last nine matches.

The Blues remain level on points with Walton, who were held to a surprising 3-3 draw by second bottom Mertsham while Northwood were thumped 4-1 at home by improving Hanworth Villa.

The results tee up an intriguing clash this Saturday with Marlow set to visit Walton.

Reflecting on Marlow's display on Twitter, Bartley said: “A little disjointed in our performance today, and we're disappointed with the goals we conceded.

“What cannot be denied is our never say die attitude, as we equalised with yet another late goal.

“They say, ‘If you can't play well, don't lose’ and today we did just that.”
