Forward Callum Harriott has left Maidenhead United by mutual consent after failing to establish himself as a first team regular.
Former manager Alan Devonshire hoped Harriott would bring ‘the X factor’ to the Magpies this season when he signed him in pre-season.
He made only a handful of first team appearances, mainly as substitute after recovering from injury. He started last week’s 5-1 Berks & Bucks Senior Cup quarter final defeat to Reading Academy at York Road but struggled to make much of an impact against the rampaging young Royals.
His injury-disrupted spell at the club was ended this week with a simple statement.
“Callum Harriott has today left the club by mutual consent,” the club confirmed.
“We would like to thank Callum for his contributions to Maidenhead United and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Harriott responded: “Thank you for having me Maidenhead United. Wish you all the best for the season.”
Harriott became the Magpies’ eighth signing of the summer in July.
Having enjoyed spells in the EFL with Charlton, Reading and Colchester, and more recently having played for York City and Ebbsfleet United in the National League – much was expected from him.
A skilful winger who can score and create goals, he has nine international caps for Guyana and was also an England u19s international. At Colchester he became something of a fans’ favourite, scoring 12 goals in 58 appearances, but his time at York Road was hamstrung by injury.
