Despite the upheaval of the club’s move from Shoppenhangers Road to their new home at Mill Ride, Maidenhead Golf Club members have once again proved their generosity by raising more than £17,500 for charity.

On Tuesday, February 24, the club’s captains for 2025 Roger Keys and Amanda Shevills proudly presented a cheque for £17,653.39 to their chosen charity, Number 22 Community Counselling Service.

This impressive total was bolstered by a generous £2,500 contribution from former captains Andrew Coates and Pam Thomason, whose own charitable funds were redistributed to Number 22 after another good cause faced

difficulties.

Accepting the donation at the club's new Ascot premises, Number 22 CEO Emily Warburton and Retired Chair of Trustees Sally Somerville described the sum as "fantastic."

“These funds are earmarked for our AfterSchool@22 project,” Emily explained.

“While we provide vital counselling within schools, many young people prefer the quiet, neutral space of our agency rooms in Maidenhead, Windsor, and Slough.

“This donation ensures we can continue offering that vital after-school support, both in-person and online.”

Emily added: “I’d like to extend a special thank you to Roger and Amanda for taking the time to truly understand our mission. We are honoured they have trusted us to use these funds for the benefit of our local youth.”

This presentation marks a successful first chapter for the club following its move from Maidenhead, proving that while their course might have changed, members’ generosity and commitment to supporting the local community has not.
