Almost 150 people enjoyed a day of celebration featuring food and entertainment for youngsters to celebrate Eid on Friday (April 21).
The event, by Windsor Muslim Assocation (WMA) at Dedworth Manor Park, saw both Muslims and non-Muslims gather to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and share traditional dishes.
However, due to rain, some of the event moved indoors.
At 10am an Eid prayer took place, and this was shortly followed by a sermon which all attendees participated in.
Youngsters were treated to a funfair, situated in the car park nearby and attendees brought along traditional dishes to share from a plethora of cuisines across the world, including Nigerian, North African, and South African.
Cllr Helen Price and Cllr Amy Tisi were also in attendance at the event and helped in organising a range of aspects of the event.
Other councillors also attending the event including Cllr Karen Davies and Cllr Samantha Rayner.
Mohamed Arif, chairman of the Windsor Muslim Association, said: “[For the] last three to four years, when Eid comes, we are calling the whole community to come together to celebrate.
“This time most of our non-Muslim friends and families came down, which is very important that [as] a community, they are building a trust between each other.”
Mohamed explained that there was a higher turnout this year of non-Muslim attendees coming to join in with the celebrations.
He added: “We’re pleased to see the communities are coming together.
“Very, very nice to see this atmosphere, everybody came together.
“Overall, I’m very pleased [the] whole community came together.
“This is what we want to do, we [have been] working for so many years to bring the communities together so [that] a trust is created.”
