SUZY Hobbs, who co-runs Hobbs of Henley alongside her husband, has dedicated 18 years to the family business. She has played a pivotal role in shaping its future while championing greater female representation in what has historically been a male-dominated industry.
Hobbs of Henley, an historic boating business with more than 155 years of heritage, has long been a staple of the Henley community.
Offering everything from small rowing boats to the grand 175-passenger Mississippi-style paddle steamer, the company is embracing a more inclusive workforce with Suzy’s influence, with more women than ever in key roles.
Among them is Dilly Bill, the first woman to drive an umpire launch at Henley Royal Regatta. Additionally, experienced skipper Caroline helms Lilibet, the company’s luxury charter boat, as well as working during the Regatta.
Suzy’s daughters, Evie and Bella, also contribute when home from university, with Evie studying business management — perhaps a future leader in the making.
Beyond her work at Hobbs of Henley, Suzy is a trustee at Riverside Counselling Service, a charity providing affordable mental health support in South Oxfordshire.
