    Maidenhead fully deserved that and probably should have won by more. Their fans sing 'Top of the league you're having a laugh' - De Havilland and Mitchell-Lawson with the goals.

    90' Myles Weston blasts the ball over the bar for Hornchurch - it's been one of those days for the league leaders. 2-0 

    90' Well that's taken away some of the nerves for these final few minutes. Maidenhead have  been very very good today. There isn't a hint of a fluke about this win, they've been by far the better team! 2-0

    The Magpies finish the job with an excellent low strike from their substitute. He'd had a chance to size things up a moment before and went just wide but this time he finds the back of the net. Robinson played him in. Job done! 

    90' Great chance for Maidenhead. Mitchell-Lawson picks the ball up and runs at the Hornchurch defence before bending the ball just wide of the far post. 1-0 

    89' Owen Cochrane, who has had another excellent game, is replaced by new signing Chanse Headman. 1-0

    85' Dulson latches onto Ragguette's long ball out of defence and shows great strength and pace to hold off his marker and get a shot away. It's a good effort but Nasta - again - gets down well to save! 1-0 

    81' Josh Umerah and Josh Popoola are replaced by Jayden Mitchell-Lawson and Harry Pritchard! Some experience on to see this game out hopefully. 1-0 

    78' CHANCE! Maidenhead have another chance to get their second. Umerah wins the ball back deep and feeds Popoola on the left. He dashes into the area and gets his shot away but Nasta saves and the visitors clear. 1-0 

    76' Hornchurch corner is played deep to the back post but JVS managed to punch it away under huge pressure. Another indicator that - despite their dominance - this game is still on a knife edge on the scoreboard. 1-0 

    73' Now Dulson is played through. But Hornchurch defenders get back to challenge him and clear the danger. Maidenhead are dominating this game now, but the result remains in the balance. They should have put this contest to bed you feel. 1-0 

    72' Maidenhead chance their arm with two attempts from distance. The first from Popoola is a powerful effort that Nasta punches away. It drops for Umerah who skies the ball into the Maidenhead Advertiser car park. 1-0

    69' Dulson with a thunderous effort from distance that Nasta turns over! There was some frustration in that shot! 1-0 

    68' Penalty Maidenhead. Dulson is nudged over in the box. 

    No. the referee has consulted with his assistant and changed his mind. Big moment here. Can Hornchurch capitalise. 1-0 

    66' A young fan has just run onto the field and the referee has had to pause the game. 1-0

    63' Big appeals from the Hornchurch fans behind the goal at the far end for some kind of an offense in the Maidenhead area, but I didn't see what. The referee wasn't much interested. 1-0 

    58' Hornchurch win a free kick through Rees' good footwork. Aaron Henry plays it into the area but it runs straight out of play. United defending well so far. 1-0 

    53' Josh Hare sends a searching cross into the middle from the right and JVS spills it, but De Havilland or Clerima was there to clear away the danger before Hornchurch could pounce! 1-0 

    51' CHANCE! Maidenhead break quickly through Cochrane, who has Ragguette unmarked to his left but he chooses to go to Dulson whose shot is deflected for a corner. A great opportunity to extend the lead there. 1-0 

    49' Remy Clerima lets fly from outside the area and the ball skims the crossbar to 'oohs' from the crowd. Umerah did well to tee him up and Robinson swung in the cross. 1-0 

    47' Maidenhead have opened  the half with a couple of half chances. Dulson got away for the first and his powerful left footedf shot was well saved by Nasta. They've just worked another opening on the left which was whipped in and Hornchurch cleared. 1-0 

    46' Hornchurch have kicked the second half underway. And have made two changes.

    Maidenhead United lead at half time and it's a deserved lead. Will de Havilland's header flying into the back of the net from a corner kick. They've  been the better side so far and hopefully that continues in the second half. Hornchurch have had a couple of half chances but nothing clear cut. So far so good for new management duo Peters and O'Brien! 1-0

    44' Heading towards half-time and Hornchurch haven't found a way of breaking down this Maidenhead side yet, not effectively anyway. This is a team who hammered Hemel away in mid-week but they're struggling offensively so far here. 1-0 

    41' Maidenhead have played very well this half. I like the new formation. It's very fluid and effective. Remy Clerima has been excellent in the sitting role in front of the back five. They look well set defensively and when they do have the ball break very quickly! They've forced another corner. 1-0 

    37' CHANCE! It should be 2-0 to Maidenhead. Popoola beats his man on the right and whips in a great low ball for Umerah who looks to have a tap in, but somehow the Magpies striker can't convert. It almost went behind him or through his legs, but it was a great opportunity not taken. 1-0 

    36' Better from Hornchurch, They force a corner after Charlie Ruff's shot is deflected behind. Maidenhead survive though. 1-0 

    33' Half chance for the visitors. Free kick on the right is headed over under pressure by Nathan Bertram-Cooper. 1-0 

    32' Free kick from Robinson is pushed out by Nasta. Decent effort from the Maidenhead midfielder who has had a good half. 1-0 

    30' No real response from Honchurch so far. Maidenhead have looked a threat on the break though. They've just countered quickly through Dulson and Remy Clerima, the latter pulling a cross just behind Umerah. 1-0 

    24' GOAL! Maidenhead United 1, Hornchurch 0 (Will De Havilland)

    The corner is played in from the left side and De Havilland rises well to flick a header past Nasta and into far corner. Maidenhead have deserved their lead on the balance of play

    23' Maidenhead work another opening down the left through Dulson and Popoola. Josh passes it to Robinson whose shot is deflected wide. 0-0 

    20' Owen Cochrane is causing Hornchurch some problems with his excellent crossing from the right. It's been pretty even so far in terms of chances, but Maidenhead are having the better of this game. 0-0 

    There was a lovely chipped pass from Matt Robinson to Ragguette in the build up. The defenders' low cross was almost turned in by Umerah who then fouled his man before Dulson put in the rebound. United looking a little sharper in attack 0-0 

    15' Maidenhead put a move together which results in Liam Dulson tapping the ball into the net, but Josh Umerah was adjudged to have pulled back his defender on the line. Close though! 0-0  

    13' Sloppy back pass from Matt Robinson almost creates a really good chance for Hornchurch's Angelo Balanta. He's forced to check back and gets a shot away on goal but Will de Havilland gets back to block it. 0-0 

    There was a minute's applause before kick off in memory of former Magpies player Peter Brinsden. Members of his family are here to watch the game today. 

    10' Ten minutes in and no real chances for either side. Both teams cancelling the other out. Maidenhead look the more likely though and have just had a shot at goal, saved by Nasta, by Owen Cochrane. 0-0 

    7' Maidenhead again looking relatively solid with Remy Clerima in central midfield in front of the defence. He's been breaking up play already and looking to get the Magpies on the front foot. 0-0 

    4' Myles Weston tries to latch onto a through ball and appears to take the ball out of JVS's hands. No foul. Weston turns and has a crack at goal but the keeper gets back to make a comfortable save. 0-0 

    1' Josh Popoola kicks the game underway at York Road. Maidenhead attacking down the slope in the first half. 0-0 

    Maidenhead United and Hornchurch make their way onto the pitch. The visitors playing in Blue and white stripes this afternoon 

    For the first  time this season (I think), Harry Pritchard is also back on the bench for the Magpies this afternoon. Good to see him there. 

    Speaking to the Advertiser this week, Ryan Peters said he felt Alan Devonshire had put in strong foundations for he and O'Brien to take the club forward

    The Magpies announced the signing of Chanse Headman on a short term loan deal on Friday. He's joined from Brentford B having made 37 appearances in the 2024/25 season. Peters using his connections with Brentford to bolster the Magpies for this pre-Christmas period. 

    Interim Assistant manager Aaron O'Brien has also been speaking to the club ahead of today's fixture with the leaders. 

    Here's the team Peters has named for today's clash. New signing Chanse Headman is on the bench. 

    Maidenhead United welcome National League South leaders Hornchurch to York Road this afternoon, hoping to continue their recent form while putting a dent in the title hopes of one of the teams vying for top spot in the division. 

    Interim management team Ryan Peters and Aaron O'Brien take charge of the team for the first  time after Alan Devonshire stood down from his post after last weekend's 3-0 home win over Chippenham Town. 

    That was the Magpies second straight win in the league and came after a 6-0 success away at Salisbury, but prior to that, the Magpies had been beaten seven times in eight matches.

    They sit 13th in the table, now only four points off the top seven, and a win today would be huge for their hopes this season, and Peters and O'Brien in their first  match leading the team without Devonshire. 

    Hornchurch moved three points clear at the top on Tuesday after hammering play-off/promotion contenders Hemel Hempstead Town 4-0 away from home.

    Peters and O'Brien could have had gentler games to get this new era of the club underway
