Absolutely Escapes visitors who have solved the Pictured: Professor Blackthorne’s final invention mystery
A new escape room experience has opened in Maidenhead, giving residents another attraction to try alongside go-karting.
Absolutely Karting has launched Absolutely Escapes, a purpose-built escape room now open at its Maidenhead track.
The first game, Professor Blackthorne’s Final Invention, is designed for groups of two to six players and is set in 1950s London.
Players are challenged to break into the study of the mysterious Professor Blackthorne on Lockwell Street and uncover the secret behind his final creation.
With just 60 minutes before the professor returns from an awards ceremony, teams must race against the clock to crack codes, solve puzzles and piece together clues hidden throughout the room.
A dedicated games master is available to provide hints if any groups get stuck.

Naomi Smith, Group Manager at Absolutely Karting, said the new attraction marks an exciting expansion for the business.
“We’re delighted to launch Absolutely Escapes at our Maidenhead track,” she said.
“The Professor Blackthorne’s Final Invention story is a brilliant mix of classic mystery and modern escape room design where every second counts, and we’re already working on the next adventure to launch next year.
“Whether you’re new to escape rooms or a regular puzzle-solver, we want this to be an experience everyone can enjoy.”
Prices range from £25 to £30 per person, depending on group size.
The experience lasts up to an hour, but visitors are advised to allow around 90 minutes in total, including briefing and debrief time.
Groups are asked to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to check in, as late arrivals may have their time deducted and be unable to participate.
The room is designed to be immersive rather than frightening, with no jump scares, and is suitable for friends, families or colleagues looking for a team-based challenge.
Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. All participants must sign a waiver before entering.
Bookings must be made at least 10 days in advance, and more information is available on the Absolutely Karting website.
