Members of the public now have the opportunity to feedback about what it would like its four extra police officers to do.

In its 2023/24 budget, the council earmarked £240,000 a year to fund four additional police officers to support neighbourhood policing across the Borough. The budget was approved in February.

The intention is for these officers to tackle issues surrounding the nighttime economy, illegal street activity and other anti-social behaviour.

The policing scheme is set to begin in April and these extra officers will initially be in place for three years.

The Borough and Thames Valley Police are now inviting communities to help shape the priorities for the police officers.

Communities can complete a survey to help guide which local policing and community safety issues should be the initial priorities for them.

To take part in the survey, visit rbwmtogether.rbwm.gov.uk/rbwm-community-safety-survey/survey_tools/rbwm-community-safety-survey

Anyone who requires paper copies of the survey form, these are also available from libraries upon request.

The survey closes at the end of Monday, March 20.

In addition, there are a limited number of spaces available for residents to attend an event involving key partners on Friday, March 17.

Councillor David Cannon, cabinet member for anti-social behaviour, crime, and public protection, said:

“We know that local experiences and perceptions of anti-social behaviour differ at a local level across our borough.

“Further community insights will help ensure our stronger local police presence and response … are best focussed where it will make the greatest difference to people lives.”

Superintendent Clare Knibbs, local policing area commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, said:

“Through community engagement and events such as Have Your Say, Thames Valley Police are always eager to hear from communities across Windsor and Maidenhead [about] which issues are most pertinent to them.

“We will be working with the Royal Borough to incorporate the local issues raised with the Community Safety Partnership priorities to ensure we improve public confidence and victim experience.

“We want to provide a visible presence with quality interactions across the area and welcome the insight of our communities to help support this.”
