A new care centre has opened in Slough offering same-day treatment for members of the public with minor illnesses.
The Slough Urgent Care Centre in Priors Close, offers pre-booked and walk-in options, and is open for use seven days a week from 8am-8pm.
It is hoped the facility will reduce pressure on Wexham Park’s emergency department and ease pressure on hospital services by providing an alternative access to non-emergency care.
Those seeking treatment at the emergency department with a minor illness may now be redirected to the new urgent care centre where a ‘high quality of care’ and ‘shorter waits’ can be expected.
To access the service Registered GP users can arrange a booking through their GP or by calling 111.
Alternatively, a walk-in service offers users the chance to arrange a booked appointment and either wait at the centre or return at their allotted time.
The new facility operates in partnership with the Frimley Health and Care integrated care system, as well as GPs, pharmacies.
Other care options in the area include Bracknell Urgent Care Centre which offers a minor injury service walk-in service available seven days a week.
In addition, the Maidenhead Urgent Primary Care Service provides same day minor-injury and minor illness appointments at St Mark’ Hospital for residents of Maidenhead bookable through GPs and 111.
