New bike storage has been opened at Windsor Leisure Centre for cyclists to use at any time of the day.
After listening to feedback from local cycling organisations like the Windsor Cycle Hub and Windsor Ascot Maidenhead Active Travel, the Royal Borough has built a cycle park tailored to the security needs of the users of the leisure centre – for use by anyone for £1 per day.
Councillor Geoff Hill, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “If you already cycle or want to give it a go, this new secure cycling park not only gives you peace of mind that your bike will be safe but also has facilities for bike maintenance.”
The storage is fully enclosed, with 36 spaces, lockers for helmets and belongings, and a pump and repair stand.
The entry system is secured by keypad entry for only the ID-verified users.
To use, cyclists simply have to download the Spokesafe app, create an account, and then use the facilities to safely store their bikes for the day.
The park not only provides storage, but maintenance facilities as well for any sticky situations with bikes.
“This new cycle park also supports two of the five key aims in our council plan: creating a cleaner, greener, safer and more prosperous borough as well as empowering our residents to live healthy and independent lives in supportive communities,” said Cllr Hill.
