A popular family festival featuring live music and a host of other attractions is returning to Slough this summer after many years.
Bright Star Events Limited has announced the return of Slough Mela following ‘huge public demand’.
It will take place on Sunday, August 6 at Upton Court Park.
The festival, which last took place in 2014, will feature a host of fun and entertainment including live music, stalls, a funfair, and a food court.
The family event celebrates South Asian music, culture, lifestyle, and food, with food traders visiting from around the world.
Gates will open at 12pm to 8.30pm and a host live music acts will be taking to the stage to entertain visitors including Bhangra dancers, belly dancers, DJs and rappers, Bollywood dancers, and famous international artists.
Asian Star Radio will manage the stage and on-site visitor parking provision has been arranged.
Dignitaries including the mayor of Slough have been invited to attend the event.
Parking restrictions will be in place around the perimeter of the park and on some residential roads.
Lascelles Road will be shut and there will be no access via Buckland Avenue and Quaves Road.
Visitors are being encouraged to buy tickets in advance and arrive early to the event.
Ray Siddique, organiser, said: “I am actually thrilled about staging this years Slough Mela festival, we are fullfilling a huge public demand from local residents bringing an event of this calibre to their doorstep which will be full of entertainment and fun.
“The Slough Mela hopes to entice in locals for a great family day out, to sample different types of foods, enjoy shopping at the bazaar, funfair & of course the live music stage boasting a huge array of live artists and dancers”.
He added that if this year’s mela is successful, the event aims to ‘become an annual’ fixture for people in the area.
