Groomer who sexually abused children for years imprisoned

An Iver man has been jailed for ‘grooming and abusing’ two children under the age of 13 over the course of eight years.

Danny Raymond Smith, aged 34, of Bangors Close, was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court on Monday (March 16), having previously pleaded guilty to several charges.

Of the most serious, this included two counts of raping a child under 13.

Smith is also guilty of one count of sexual activity with a child and five counts of causing / inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Lastly, he faced three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child.

Police said that Smith ‘groomed and abused’ two children between 2017 and 2025, as well as possessing thousands of indecent images of children.

More than 4,700 of these were found on his computer, and nearly a thousand of them (956) were Category A – the most serious of three categories.

Another 956 of the images were Category B and the remaining 2,842 were Category C.

Smith’s crimes came to the attention of police when he attempted to upload indecent images of children to a Google account.

After police issued a warrant at his home address, they arrested Smith on July 23 and charged him the next day. He pleaded guilty to the offences on November 14.

As well as his 16-year prison sentence, Smith was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Lucy Sandford, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit based in Aylesbury, said:

“I would like to commend the incredible bravery of the victims in this case.

“By coming forward and putting their trust in the police, they have helped us to put a dangerous and predatory man in prison.

“Smith targeted two children, who are some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

“I would urge anyone who has concerns for a child to please contact police. We will listen and we will work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators of these crimes to justice.”
