Public notices: car ban outside Wessex Primary School

The latest public notices in the Maidenhead Advertiser include an order banning drivers from a nearby road outside Wessex Primary School during pick-up and drop-off times.

The order forbids drivers from using St Adrians Close between 8.30am and 9am and between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on weekdays.

The road was the first to be picked for Windsor and Maidenhead council’s ‘school street’ scheme.

Temporary restrictions are put in St Adrians Close so pupils and their guardians can safely walk, scoot or cycle to school.

If using a vehicle for a pick-up or drop-off, drivers are required to park away from the school and walk the last few minutes.

At the start of this year, the council announced its plans to continue with the project and install a number plate recognition camera close to the road.

Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the order must make an application to the High Court within six weeks from August 21.

Planning

A real estate firm has asked the council whether it can convert part of a building in Maidenhead High Street into two flats.

Ekom Assets Limited is looking to convert part of the ground floor and the first floor at 101 Maidenhead High Street into two separate homes.

The ground floor is currently used by Cancer Research UK and the applicant said retail use will be retained if the plans are approved.

The proposals are part of a prior approval application which can allow developers to convert certain types of buildings into flats as long as they meet a checklist of requirements.
