POLICE levels in Henley are not acceptable, according to town councillors — and the local police chief agrees! The levels of policing came under attack at a meeting of the town and general purposes committee on Tuesday night. The mayor, Cllr Tony Lane, told members: “We have to get back to basics. We need more police walking around in Henley. I don’t know where the police have gone. I remember a time when we had
35 policemen in the town.”
Steve Redgrave announced on Tuesday he is to quit rowing and this week Leander Club chairman Jeremy Randall paid tribute to Britain’s greatest Olympian, saying the club would be to see him return in “another capacity”. Redgrave said he wanted to coach but not for at least two years.
