Maidenhead’s MP Josh Reynolds has chosen the winner and runners-up for his official Christmas card competition.
The Advertiser initially teamed up with the town’s former MP Theresa May more than 20 years ago to host a competition for young people to design a card to be sent out to politicians, community figures and dignitaries across the world.
The competition has taken place each year since then, and this is Mr Reynolds’ second year of continuing the tradition.
The Liberal Democrat MP invited pupils aged 11 and under, who live in the Maidenhead constituency, to create a design for the card.
Mr Reynolds attended the Advertiser’s offices on Thursday to choose the winning entry and this year’s two runners-up.
The prize for the winning entry is a day out at Legoland for five people.
Following the judging, Mr Reynolds said: “I think they’re absolutely fantastic entries.
“Really exciting to see so many young people from across Maidenhead getting really excited for Christmas.
“The three cards that we selected are absolutely fantastic, so it’s brilliant to be able to see the different cards that we had, and I think our winner is a truly worthy winner.
“I think they were really fantastic designs.
“The simplicity of some of them with the tree, but also the deeper you look into these cards, the more that you see – the more detail and variation comes out.”
Mr Reynolds added that the cards will be sent around to his Christmas mailing list, various other members of Parliament, politicians, locals and businesses around Maidenhead.
This will also include colleagues that Mr Reynolds has met in other Parliaments across the world also.
He hopes that the winner and their family ‘will absolutely love’ the Legoland prize.
The winner and runners-up will be announced in the Advertiser soon.
