More than 700 supporters raised £68,000 to support Thames Hospice families during its annual Sunflower Walk.
On Sunday, September 14, participants tackled distances of 2.5k, 10k, and a more challenging half-marathon route.
The much-loved event started and finished in the charity’s hospice gardens.
It saw a diverse crowd take part – people of all ages, large groups, families, and plenty of furry friends.
Many took the opportunity to reflect on precious memories of their loved ones.
After crossing the finishing line, all walkers received a medal from Thames Hospice ambassador Sue Holderness, who also participated.
Jack and Zoe from The Creative Mole, a laser engraving business, spent the day engraving walkers’ medals with loved-one’s names.
The celebration continued with a barbecue, refreshments and entertainment in the hospice gardens.
Emma Andrews, senior events fundraiser at Thames Hospice, described atmosphere on the day as ‘heart-warming.’
“We’re so grateful to everyone who walked, volunteered and donated,” Emma said.
“The support we receive from our community and partners… is absolutely vital in ensuring we can continue to be here for everyone who needs us.”
A key partner in this year's event was sponsor Blue Jelly, a workplace design and build company.
Cat Morgan, head of marketing at Blue Jelly, said: “It was a privilege to support an event that brings the community together for such a vital cause.
“The enthusiasm and dedication of the walkers were truly inspiring.”
Thames Hospice is hoping for a few more donations to hit a £70,000 target. Contribute at: justgiving.com/campaign/sunflowerwalk25
